Langkawi is a small island towards the north west of Malaysia. This is ideal holiday destination for relaxing around the beach, trekking around the terrain, fishing and for various water sports. The island is covered with many small islands where we can hop around and enjoy the serene scene of the mangrove forests and rich flora covering the islands.
I had been to Langkawi during my year end vacation, but was able to capture the snaps of few birds during my tour around the island.
My first capture of the day of my visit was Oriental Pied horn bill

. There were
two birds making calls and was perching on a tree besides the hotel. These are little different from the Great Indian\Malabar pied Hornbill as these are black backed.
The Little heron was spotted along the banks of Kilim river. We took a boating tour along the river which flows amidst the mangrove forest. The view of the forest on either side of the tour was marvellous.

Zebra dove is little smaller in size compared to Spotted dove and are more shy upon Human presence.
Common Myna
Collared Kingfisher

Spotted/Scaly breasted munia
White bellied Sea eagle

The other common birds which were spotted were Red wattled lapwing, Asian Brown Flycatcher, Yellow vented bulbul, Brahminy kite, Blue rock pigeon, Jungle crow, cattle egret and Red rumped swallow. Langkawi also hosts few mammals apart from the wide species of birds and I wish to visit again exclusively for bird watching.
